Stories that inspire conversation, community and cultural change.
Concrete Flower Productions is a Black-led production company creating original theatre, film and live cultural experiences that champion bold storytelling, celebrate Black creativity and bring people together.
Founded by writer and producer Urielle Klein-Mekongo, the company develops work that entertains, challenges perspectives and creates space for meaningful conversations. We believe great stories have the power not only to move audiences, but to strengthen communities, inspire collaboration and create lasting cultural impact.
From award-winning theatre and original film to live cultural platforms, every project begins with a commitment to artistic excellence, authenticity and connection.

OUR PURPOSE
Why We Exist
Concrete Flower Productions was founded to create a home for original stories and the artists who bring them to life.
We believe Black-led storytelling deserves ambitious investment, long-term support and opportunities to reach audiences across theatre, film and live experiences.
Our work is driven by a desire to create projects that resonate far beyond the stage or screen—projects that spark conversation, celebrate identity and leave a lasting cultural legacy.
As the company grows, our ambition is to develop a diverse slate of productions while creating meaningful opportunities for artists, collaborators and creative communities.
Theatre
We develop original plays and musicals that explore contemporary experiences, celebrate Black voices and invite audiences into compelling new worlds.
Live Cultural Experiences
Through platforms such as THE BLKOUT, we create opportunities for artists, audiences and industry professionals to connect, collaborate and celebrate creativity together.
WHAT WE DO
Original stories across stage, screen and live experiences.
Our work spans multiple disciplines, united by a commitment to powerful storytelling and meaningful cultural engagement.
Film
We adapt and create stories for the screen that have the potential to reach wider audiences while maintaining the emotional depth and integrity of the original work.
Creative Development
We believe the strongest productions begin with thoughtful development. From early ideas to full productions, we nurture projects with care, collaboration and artistic ambition.
OUR APPROACH
Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do.

We believe the best creative work is rarely made in isolation. Every project is built through collaboration—with artists, producers, directors, venues, communities, supporters and audiences.
We are committed to creating environments where ideas can be shared openly, partnerships can flourish and creativity can thrive.
Whether we're developing a new play, adapting a story for film or building a new cultural platform, our process is guided by curiosity, generosity and a shared belief in the power of storytelling.

Concrete Flower Productions is developing a growing slate of original projects across theatre, film and live experiences.

WHY "CONCRETE FLOWER"?
Our name reflects the belief that creativity can flourish in unexpected places.
Like a flower growing through concrete, powerful stories often emerge from resilience, determination and hope.
Concrete Flower Productions exists to nurture those stories—to create work that grows despite barriers, challenges expectations and inspires others to imagine what is possible.
The name is a reminder that beauty, strength and transformation can exist side by side.

LOOKING AHEAD
Building for the future.
Concrete Flower Productions is at the beginning of an exciting journey. Alongside developing original productions, we are building long-term partnerships with artists, venues, cultural organisations, sponsors, Executive Producers and philanthropic supporters who believe in the transformative power of storytelling.
Our ambition is not simply to produce individual projects, but to build a sustainable production company that creates opportunities, champions original voices and contributes to a richer cultural landscape for years to come.
